University Classroom Technology Guide

Digital Imaging Projector

This guide shows how to use the Digital Imaging Projector in a University Classroom [UCR]. Select University Classrooms are equipped with this type of A/V projection system to help facilitate teaching and learning.

Common Projector Issues

The following are typical projector issues and solutions.

  • Projector appears to turn on but will not provide projected image
    • if A/V display source/input is being restricted from displaying
      • make certain equipment being used is turned on
      • switch A/V display source/input, then switch back; e.g., if PC is the selected source/input, switch to BLU-RAY [make certain Blu-Ray Media Player is turned on and displays logo/menu], wait 5–10 seconds then switch back to PC
      • check A/V Control Panel Interface is not muted; i.e., projector fan will be running and faint light may be seen from projector lens
      • shut down A/V system, wait 30–35 seconds then restart; systems that are on, but inactive for a period of time, may cause projector to be out of sync with A/V system
      • if issue persists, projector lamp may be overheated and/or filter[s] may need cleaning
      • contact ITS Help Desk for assistance
  • ‘Temp”, or Temperature, light on the projector is on [or blinking]
    • if projector has overheated, it will require manual reset
      • unplug projector's electrical cord [full power cycle] for about 5–10 seconds, briefly press power button, then plug it back in before restarting lectern's A/V system
      • if issue persists, projector's filter[s] may require cleaning
      • if issue persists after filter cleaning, projector lamp may require replacement
      • contact ITS Help Desk for assistance
  • Projector's lamp is burned out
