DVD / Blu-Ray Media Player Guide

The Learning Spaces Technology [LST] group provides consulting, design, installation, training, management and support for 300+ technology-equipped University Classrooms [UCRs] across campus and classrooms assigned to departments.

Classroom Updates

Beginning Fall semester of 2020, all UCRs will have webcams and microphones for use with UICapture software for lecture capture and podcasting, and Zoom software for synchronous classroom delivery:
•  Camera - Huddly Go, web conferencing camera, 150-degree wide-angle lens, USB HD webcam on flexible arm mount
•  Microphone - MXL AC-404 USB Conferencing boundary mic

Beginning Fall semester of 2021, all UCRs will have Solstice Pods for in-classroom wireless content sharing, and Zoom-compatible document cameras:
•  Wireless Presentation Device - Mersive Solstice Pod with unlimited connections
•  Document Camera - WolfVision vSolutions Cam document camera

DVD / Blu-Ray Media Player

Blu-Ray Media Player

A Blu-Ray [or alternatively, DVD] media player is typically available in most UCRs across campus and may be selected as an A/V Control Panel Interface source/input for projection. 

• Selecting the BLURAY [or DVD] A/V control panel button will select the in-room media player as a projection source/input
• In select locations, additional control buttons may be available for the in-room media player via an additional/secondary Control Panel Interface; additionally, many learning spaces provide a media player remote control located within the microphone drawer of a room's A/V system rack

Please note that due to differences in types of discs, as well as regional restrictions, testing the playability of discs in intended learning space is highly advised prior to use.

Using Blu-Ray Media Player

1. Select BLU RAY as source on A/V control panel
2. Press Eject button on Blu-Ray player disc tray [typically mounted in A/V rack] to load BD or DVD
3. Blu-Ray player may be controlled with Extron control panel or by remote, typically available near Blu-Ray player or in A/V rack drawer

If you cannot produce in-room video and/or audio from Blu-Ray player with the A/V system on and un-muted, and BLU RAY selected:

• • increase A/V control panel audio level
  • toggle MUTE button on A/V control panel, or toggle MUTE button on Blu-Ray remote [if available]
  • restart A/V system by pressing control panel OFF button, wait a few minutes, then press ON again, or report to ITS Help Desk
  • if disc is a DVD, you may alternatively attempt to play it through the computer workstation DVD drive
  • if issues with Blu-Ray media disc play are encountered, contact ITS Help Desk
