The University of Iowa

Program Summary

TILE Essentials is a two-part workshop that provides instructors with foundational active-learning concepts and teaching strategies (inquiry-guided and team-based learning and peer instruction) supported by the TILE classroom design and technologies.

Participants explore, engage in, and model active learning pedagogies, develop course learning outcomes and a classroom activity, gain familiarity with the TILE technology, and learn the basics of course transformation.

Instructors who wish to teach in a TILE room must participate in the two-part TILE Essentials before requesting a room through the Office of the Registrar. TILE Essentials is offered at select times throughout the year.
