Document Camera and Zoom

The Learning Spaces Technology [LST] group provides consulting, design, installation, training, management and support for 324 technology-equipped University Classrooms [UCRs] across campus and classrooms assigned to departments.

Classroom Updates

Beginning Fall semester of 2020, all UCRs will have webcams and microphones for use with UICapture software for lecture capture and podcasting, and Zoom software for synchronous classroom delivery:
•  Camera - Huddly Go, web conferencing camera, 150-degree wide-angle lens, USB HD webcam on flexible arm mount
•  Microphone - MXL AC-404 USB Conferencing boundary mic

Beginning Fall semester of 2021, all UCRs will have Solstice Pods for in-classroom wireless content sharing, and Zoom-compatible document cameras:
•  Wireless Presentation Device - Mersive Solstice Pod with unlimited connections
•  Document Camera - WolfVision vSolutions Cam document camera

University Classroom Technology Guide

Document Camera & Zoom

This guide shows how to use the document camera [doc cam] in a University Classroom [UCR] through Zoom web conferencing in the event a document camera not present itself as a camera input in Zoom. Each University Classroom is equipped with a document camera to help facilitate teaching and learning through either in-person or virtual instruction.

Please note: for the resolution below, the document camera requires a USB cable connection to the lectern Windows workstation.

Launch Zoom app [Windows/Mac]

1. Power document camera on
2. In Zoom, select Share Screen
3. Select the Advanced tab and then select Content from 2nd Camera
4. Click Share button
5. The connected document camera should now show through the screen sharing option in Zoom
6. You may toggle camera input [between document camera and video camera] by clicking the Switch Camera button at top left corner of shared window

Please note: should document camera remain undetected, then both power and USB cables to document camera should be disconnected/reconnected before revisiting previous steps
