The Learning Spaces Technology group provides technology consultations, design, installation, training, management and support of One Button Studios [OBS], a user-friendly way for creating high-quality videos. There are two models of OBS available for use on campus, one based on the Extron Studio Station model, and another based on the the Penn State University One Button Studio model.

What can students do with the One Button Studio?

  • Practicing or produce a presentation for class
  • Green screen recording
  • Studio components of larger or group video assignments
  • ePortfolio/iFolio introductions and content

What can faculty do with the One Button Studio?

  • Deliver introductions to online courses
  • Presenting research papers
  • Record lectures when travel is required or for asynchronous delivery
  • Create demonstration modules

What are additional uses of the One Button Studio?

  • UI instructors and faculty can use OBS for a wide range of class assignments, such as documenting small-group discussions, presentations, and mock interviews. Clinical training can be enhanced by using OBS to participate in variety of mock patient interactions, such as medical history intake.
    • A benefit for both faculty and students is the high quality and consistency of recordings produced for assignments improves grading ease and accuracy
  • UI instructors and faculty can use OBS for recording video abstracts for research or for asynchronous conference presentation.
  • UI staff can use OBS to create instructional videos for professional staff and student employees.
  • Community members are also invited to use OBS for popular projects, including recording family history, video journals, or creating presentations.
  • Once you’ve recorded in the One Button Studio, you can use the raw footage to edit and create a video that includes other elements such as music, titles, captions, photography, and video footage shot outside the studio.*
    *Please note that One Button Studios are not production spaces; if you plan to edit your video, you’ll need to find other equipment and software.
